Eco-Athletic Wear…Cool!

Subaru Vancouver International Triathlon Start July 4, 2010

Subaru Vancouver International Triathlon Start July 4, 2010

I am standing on the corner of 4th and Wallace this morning, sucking back the last drops of caffeine, waiting for the lead runner in the Subaru Vancouver International Triathlon so that I can lead him and all the other triathletes in the right direction. I suddenly got the yawns and had a slight panic attack at the thought that I’m going to have to maintain my energy for the next 6 hours….and I have NO more coffee left! What do I do?? Think fast, and change thought direction….thank goodness for web enabled mobile phones!

Ahhh, perfect time to catch-up on my email management. In doing so, I found this cool marathon inspired clothing designer from France, Sébola, who is making ethical athletic wear using ecologically friendly fibers and with a low carbon footprint. You can read all about it on the Eco-Fashion World blog, I just wanted to share it with you because it’s cool, they have a sale and I want access to these kinds of products in Canada – but I am no Valentino :) …and BTW, my triathlon club, Leading Edge Triathlon Club rocked the podium today! Woot!!

KidSport Swim-A-Thon: Thursday July 8th

Me in Kits Pool June 2010

Early morning at Kits Pool

I am participating the 2nd Annual KidSport™ Swim-A-Thon on Thursday July 8th (6am!) through my swim club FastLane. I am looking for people and/or organizations to pledge me for this (fun….healthy?) fundraising event. In exchange for the contribution, I will swim as many lengths of Kits Beach Pool as I can within about an hour. If you are unfamiliar with Kits Beach Pool it’s 137 meters long. My goal is to swim 25 lengths…which is 3,425 meters (geesh!). I’m gonna need a very strong coffee reward after this! ANY amount is truly appreciated.

Interested? Yahoo, that is GREAT!! this is what you do:

  1. Email me to let me know your interest and how much you will pledge.
  2. Download and complete KidSport Donor Form Vancouver Chapter.
  3. Mail or give the form to me along with your payment.
  4. Do a sunshine dance so the weather will be good! It’s always more fun to swim when it’s sunny, but the event is rain or shine.

Don’t let your kids, or kids grow up to be this guy…
